Working With The Grid

The grid is the main area for exploring dashboard data. After you choose a data source, NimbusDash loads the results into an interactive grid with filters, column tools, grouping, pivoting, exports, and side panels.

Use column headers to sort data. Use the filter controls beneath headers or the Filters side panel to narrow the rows shown in the grid.

Common filtering tools include:

  • Column filters for specific fields.
  • Floating filters under column headers.
  • Quick filtering from the grid toolbar.
  • Find for locating matching values in the visible data.
  • Clear Filters to remove current filters.

When filters are active, NimbusDash may also show Add Rule, which lets you create a highlighting rule from the current filtered criteria.

Use the Columns side panel to change which columns are visible and how they are arranged.

Depending on the data, you can:

  • Move columns into a different order.
  • Hide or show columns.
  • Group rows by one or more columns.
  • Enable pivot mode.
  • Add value columns and aggregations.
  • Resize columns manually.

The toolbar also includes Fit To Grid and Autosize All actions for adjusting column widths.

Some columns may need to be treated as text or numbers depending on the data source. Use the column header menu to convert supported columns:

  • Convert to String for numeric columns you want to treat as text.
  • Convert to Number for columns that should be treated as numeric values.

This is useful when a field looks numeric but should not be calculated, or when a text field contains numbers you want to chart or aggregate.

The grid includes these side panels:

  • Filters: Review and adjust active filters.
  • Columns: Show, hide, group, pivot, and aggregate columns.
  • Info: View dashboard metadata after loading a saved dashboard.

The Info panel can show the dashboard name, source type, source ID, description, and a link to view the source in NetSuite.

Use the grid export menu to download data as CSV or Excel. The export uses the current dashboard context and can include the data currently represented in the grid.

For PDF exports, use the dashboard PDF icon. PDF export is chart-based and requires at least one chart. See Exporting Data And Reports.

Use Reset Grid to clear filters, reset columns, and return the grid closer to its original state.

Use Refresh Data Source to reload live data from the saved search or NimbusQL query. This option is available for live dashboards and may be hidden when a dashboard is using cached data.

For large datasets, NimbusDash may show messages that only part of the data has loaded or that additional rows are still being fetched. If you need the full dataset and live loading is slow, save the dashboard with Use Cached Data enabled.
