Dash AI Dashboard Actions
Dashboard Actions is the Dash AI mode for working with the current dashboard grid and layout. Use it when you want to explore data, change how the grid is organized, or prepare chart ideas without manually opening every grid tool.
Make sure Dashboard Actions is selected at the top of the Dash AI panel before you send a message.
Before You Start
Section titled “Before You Start”Dash AI can send messages in Dashboard Actions only when:
- Dash AI is enabled for your account.
- Your NetSuite role is allowed to use Dash AI.
- A dashboard data source has loaded and the grid is ready.
If the status shows Load a grid to begin., open or create a dashboard and load data first.
How Requests Work
Section titled “How Requests Work”- Type a request in the Message box.
- Click Send.
- Read Dash AI’s response in the chat.
- If Dash AI proposes a change, review the Preview Changes section.
- Click Apply to make the change or Dismiss to ignore it.
If Apply Mode is set to Auto Apply, supported changes may be applied immediately when Dash AI can resolve all required mappings.
Use Undo to restore the last applied grid change when needed.
Supported Grid Changes
Section titled “Supported Grid Changes”Dash AI can propose changes to supported grid state, including:
- Filters
- Sort order
- Row grouping and aggregation
- Pivot mode
- Column order, visibility, sizing, and pinning
Dash AI applies only supported grid properties. The preview may list properties that were left unchanged.
Column Confirmation
Section titled “Column Confirmation”Sometimes Dash AI cannot tell which dashboard column matches your request. When that happens, the preview shows column choices such as Category, Metric, or Split By.
Choose the correct column for each mapping, then click Apply. Dash AI will not apply chart-related changes until all required column choices are selected.
Example Prompts
Section titled “Example Prompts”Try prompts such as:
Summarize this dashboardShow only open opportunities over $10,000Sort by amount descendingGroup by sales rep and hide the internal ID columnFilter to this month and show the top customers by revenueSuggest a bar chart of revenue by region
For chart creation and editing, see Dash AI Charts.
Preview And Apply Behavior
Section titled “Preview And Apply Behavior”The preview explains what Dash AI intends to change. It may also include:
- Warnings when Dash AI adjusted or ignored part of the request
- A note about unchanged grid properties
- Chart details when a chart is part of the same response
Review the preview carefully before applying changes, especially when filters or grouping will significantly change the visible data.
Undo Behavior
Section titled “Undo Behavior”Undo restores the most recent applied Dash AI change.
- For grid changes, NimbusDash restores the previous grid state from before the last apply action.
- If the last action also changed a chart, chart undo behavior is handled separately depending on what was applied last.
If undo fails, Dash AI shows an alert with the error message.
Limitations
Section titled “Limitations”- Dash AI works from the dashboard context available at request time. It cannot access records outside the loaded dashboard data source.
- Dash AI may ask for column clarification when multiple columns could match your wording.
- Not every natural language request maps cleanly to grid state. If a preview looks wrong, dismiss it and refine the prompt.
- Row values included in AI requests depend on administrator settings. Some accounts send schema and grid state only, while others may include capped sample or filtered rows.
Privacy And Context
Section titled “Privacy And Context”The text below the message box shows what kind of dashboard context may be sent with your request, such as:
- Schema and grid state only
- Schema, grid state, and capped sample rows
- Schema, grid state, and capped filtered rows
Administrators control these settings in Settings.
