Highlighting Rules

Highlighting rules make important records easier to spot by applying cell styling when rows match selected criteria.

NimbusDash creates rules from grid filters. First filter the grid to the records you want to identify, then create a rule from those criteria.

Rules can apply formatting such as:

  • Background color.
  • Font color.
  • Icons.
  • Tooltips.

Rules are saved with the dashboard.

  1. Filter the grid to the records you want to highlight.
  2. Click Add Rule in the top menu bar.
  3. Enter a rule title.
  4. Review or adjust the criteria generated from the current filters.
  5. Choose the field to style.
  6. Select background color, font color, icon, and tooltip options.
  7. Review the preview.
  8. Choose whether to Save as View.
  9. Click Add Rule.

The Add Rule menu item appears only when filters are active.

Click Highlighting in the top menu bar to open the rules list. The rules list shows each rule’s title, criteria, and highlighting style.

From this list, you can edit or delete rules.

The Save as View option creates or updates a saved view using the rule title. Use this when users should be able to quickly return to the same filtered records.

  • Use short, descriptive rule names.
  • Keep criteria focused so highlights remain meaningful.
  • Use icons and tooltips sparingly for the most important conditions.
