Charts And Layouts

Charts turn dashboard data into visual summaries. NimbusDash lets you add chart widgets beside the grid, arrange them on the page, and save the layout with the dashboard.

This overview covers the main chart and layout workflows. Use the related articles below for step-by-step detail.

Grid-linked charts are created with Add Chart from the top menu bar. They use the dashboard grid as their data source and the built-in chart editor for configuration.

Typical workflow:

  1. Load data into the grid.
  2. Add a chart widget.
  3. Configure chart type, categories, and series.
  4. Arrange the widget on the dashboard.
  5. Save the dashboard.

See Adding And Editing Charts for chart creation, chart types, and editor options.

After a chart is created, you can:

  • Drag and resize chart widgets on the dashboard.
  • Link or unlink charts from grid filtering behavior.
  • Enable cross filtering to drill from a chart into grid rows.
  • Display chart data as a grid inside the widget.
  • Remove charts you no longer need.

See Chart Interactions And Layout for link/unlink behavior, cross filtering, widget layout, and removal.

Dash AI can also create chart widgets from natural language. AI charts use a separate edit modal and persistence model from grid-linked charts.

See Dash AI Charts for AI chart workflows.
