Dash AI Overview
Dash AI is the NimbusDash assistant. Use it from the dashboard to ask questions in natural language, adjust the grid, and create or update AI-generated charts.
Dash AI is available only when your administrator has enabled it and your NetSuite role is allowed to use it. If Dash AI is disabled or unavailable, the Dash AI navigation item is hidden.
Open Dash AI
Section titled “Open Dash AI”You can open Dash AI in two ways:
- Click Dash AI in the left dashboard navigation.
- Press Option + D on macOS or Alt + D on Windows and Linux.
When Dash AI opens, the cursor moves to the Message field so you can start typing immediately. Press the same keyboard shortcut again to close Dash AI.
See Keyboard Shortcuts for other dashboard shortcuts.
Dashboard Actions And Product Support
Section titled “Dashboard Actions And Product Support”Dash AI has two modes:
- Dashboard Actions works with the current dashboard. Use it to explore data, change grid state, and create or update AI charts.
- Product Support is intended for NimbusDash help questions such as setup, chart configuration, and dashboard best practices.
Each mode keeps its own chat history. You can switch between modes without losing the conversation in the other mode.
Product Support is not connected yet. The mode is available in the UI, but responses are not available until support content is connected in a future release.
When Dash AI Is Ready
Section titled “When Dash AI Is Ready”In Dashboard Actions, Dash AI shows a status message near the title:
- Loading Dash AI settings… while settings are loading.
- Dash AI is disabled. when the assistant is turned off in Settings.
- Dash AI is not enabled for your role. when your role does not have access.
- Load a grid to begin. when no dashboard grid is loaded.
- Ready when you can send a message.
You can send messages in Dashboard Actions only after a data source has loaded and the grid is ready.
Apply Mode, Preview, And Undo
Section titled “Apply Mode, Preview, And Undo”Apply Mode applies only to Dashboard Actions.
- Preview/Explain shows proposed grid or chart changes before they are applied. Review the preview, then click Apply or Dismiss.
- Auto Apply applies supported changes automatically when Dash AI can resolve all required column mappings.
Use Undo to restore the last applied grid change or reverse the last chart create/update/remove action.
Use Clear to reset the chat history for the current mode only.
Active Chart Context
Section titled “Active Chart Context”When you edit or focus an AI-generated chart, Dash AI can show an Editing chart banner with the chart title. This tells Dash AI which chart you want to update in your next message.
Use Clear in the banner to stop editing that chart context.
You can also open Dash AI from an AI chart widget using the chart menu. This sets the active chart and opens the assistant.
What Dash AI Can Do Today
Section titled “What Dash AI Can Do Today”In Dashboard Actions, Dash AI can:
- Answer questions about the current dashboard using available context.
- Propose grid changes such as filtering, sorting, grouping, column visibility, and related grid state updates.
- Create new AI charts or update the active AI chart.
- Ask you to confirm column mappings when a request is ambiguous.
What To Expect
Section titled “What To Expect”- Dash AI works from the dashboard context available at request time. It does not see data you have not loaded into the dashboard.
- Responses may include a preview before changes are applied. Review suggestions before applying them.
- The footer below the message box shows what context may be sent, such as schema and grid state only, or capped row samples depending on administrator settings.
- AI can make mistakes. NimbusDash shows a reminder below the message box for this reason.
