NimbusAI Overview

NimbusAI is the assistant in NimbusDash. Use it on a dashboard to ask questions in natural language, adjust the grid, and work with NimbusAI charts.

NimbusAI is available when an administrator has enabled it and your NetSuite role is allowed. For the included provider, an administrator must have accepted the current terms and the month’s allowance must remain. If NimbusAI is disabled or your role is not allowed, the NimbusAI navigation item is hidden.

Open NimbusAI

You can open NimbusAI in two ways:

Click NimbusAI in the left dashboard navigation.
Press Option + D on macOS or Alt + D on Windows and Linux.

When NimbusAI opens, the cursor moves to the Message field so you can start typing immediately. Press the same keyboard shortcut again to close NimbusAI. The shortcut does nothing while the NimbusAI navigation item is hidden.

Status And When You Can Send

NimbusAI shows a status message near the title:

Loading NimbusAI settings… while settings are loading.
NimbusAI is disabled. when the assistant is turned off in Settings.
NimbusAI is not enabled for your role. when your role does not have access.
Load a grid to begin. when no dashboard grid is loaded.
Beta when settings are loaded, you are allowed, and the grid has columns.

You can send messages only after a data source has loaded and the grid is ready. If the status shows Load a grid to begin., open or create a dashboard and load data first.

The Message Box

NimbusAI uses one message box for every request. The placeholder suggests asking NimbusAI to filter, sort, or chart the dashboard. How-to questions go in the same box.

Send A Message And Read The Reply

Type a request in the Message box.
Click Send.
Read NimbusAI’s response in the chat.

When your default apply mode is Preview/Explain, supported changes show Preview Changes. Review the preview, then click Apply or Dismiss.

When your default apply mode is Auto Apply, NimbusAI applies supported changes automatically when every required column mapping is already resolved. If a mapping is unresolved, the preview asks you to choose a column (Category, Metric, Split By, or similar) before changes apply.

Undo restores the most recent applied change. Clear resets the chat history.

A footer reminder notes that AI can make mistakes and that you should review responses.

Empty-State Suggestions

When the message box is empty, suggestion chips fill the box. Clicking a chip does not send a message; edit or send when you are ready.

Summarize my charts appears only when the dashboard has a NimbusAI chart and Chart Values is on in Settings.
Edit this chart appears when a NimbusAI chart is the active chart.
Suggest a chart appears when the grid has loaded with columns.
Filter or sort this grid appears when the grid has loaded with rows.
What can you do? appears in that ready state.

Supported Grid Changes

NimbusAI can propose changes to supported grid state, including:

Filters
Sort order
Row grouping and aggregation
Pivot mode
Column order, visibility, sizing, and pinning

NimbusAI applies only supported grid properties. The preview may list properties that were left unchanged.

Context Shown Below The Message Box

The line below the message box describes what dashboard context may be sent with your request.

On the included provider, context is schema and grid state only, and when chart context includes them, each column’s most frequent values. When Chart Values is on, each NimbusAI chart’s values on the open tab are included as well. The included provider never adds a row tier.

On OpenAI or Anthropic with your own API key, an administrator chooses a data context tier. Options can include schema and grid state only, capped sample rows, or capped filtered or sorted rows, within the Row Cap set in Settings. Chart context settings control whether each column’s most frequent values are sent.

Allowance On The Included Provider

When you use NimbusAI (included with your license), the panel shows how much of this month’s allowance has been used, for example 48% of this month’s NimbusAI allowance used. Resets … Under 1%, it shows Less than 1%. It does not show 100% while any of the allowance remains.

When the allowance is spent, the panel shows NimbusAI allowance spent and Send is disabled. An alert tells you to ask a NimbusDash administrator about switching to your own API key. NimbusLabs sets the monthly allowance and may change or withdraw the included provider at any time. The app shows only the share used and the reset date. See NimbusAI Data Handling.

When Chart Values Is Off

While Chart Values is off and the dashboard has NimbusAI charts, the panel explains that NimbusAI can see the charts’ setup, not their numbers. If you can open Settings, you also see Turn on in Settings.

Each NimbusAI chart’s definition and title are still sent whether or not Chart Values is on.

Chart Summaries In Replies

When Chart Values is on, an answer can include a card with the chart title, Show chart, a headline, and up to six rows. Each row shows a direction of up, down, or no change. Show chart scrolls to that chart on the dashboard. If the chart was removed, the button reads This chart is no longer on the dashboard. Figures on the card come from the chart already on the dashboard.

Edit With NimbusAI

Use Edit with NimbusAI on a NimbusAI chart to open the panel with an Editing chart banner and Clear. The banner shows which chart your next message will target.

You can also open NimbusAI from a NimbusAI chart menu. That sets the active chart and opens the assistant.
